The Future of Advertising Podcast: Episode 5

Yup. The podcast is a bit late. I’m sorry. But I’ve been busy. Really freakin’ busy. I’ll try harder to keep up with it in the future.

I’ve also put up a website dedicated to the podcast. You can find it at FutureOfAdvertising.info. And this post is pretty much replicated there because I’m a lazy sod.

So here’s what we’ve got in store for you in this latest podcast:

Interview with Cindy Gallop

Cindy is the former chairman of BBH, an entrepreneur and an all-round awesome lady. She’ll tell you why the advertising industry is dying. And she doesn’t mince her words. Here’s a taste of what she covers:

  • How she got into advertising via theatre promotion
  • Why she resigned as chairman of BBH in 2005
  • Why the industry needs to reinvent itself
  • How advertising has been devalued in the minds of many client
  • About her business – If we ran the world
  • More about her x-rated TED talk and why she wants to be the future of pornography
  • Why higher values are the future of advertising and business
  • What she means by ‘action branding’
  • Designing your career around your life
  • Why the big agencies can’t reinvent themselves
  • Why the advertising industry will be dead in 5 years time

Regular review of advertising

Then my 11 year old daughter looks at the fruits of the industry. If you want to make your own judgements, have a look at the links below:

And back to me

And I’ll tell you a little bit about what I’m up to. Including some workshops on Transmedia I’m doing in London, Manchester and Edinburgh for the DBA. If you want to book your own space, click here.

And if you’re not able to get to the talks but you’d still like to hear them, drop me a line. If I get enough response I’ll do a webinar.

I’ve also got some massively exciting stuff happening with the IPA and the School of Communication Arts. I should have more information on that pretty soon.

Final apology

Stop going on about it would you? I said I’m sorry.

And I promise not to leave it so long again.

Maybe.
