I’m just a sucker for a good idea

I’ve just bought myself a poster. And not just because it’ll look quite nice in my bathroom.

It’s a screenprint of the simple phrase ‘oil & water do not mix’. But the clever thing is that instead of ink, it’s printed with oil from the BP spill taken from a Louisiana beach. And the proceeds from the print go to help the cleanup operation.

I’ve not just bought a picture – I’ve bought a story. I’ve got even more value out of the transaction than just getting something for my wall.

And that’s exactly what I believe advertising should be aiming for – offering more value.

Then your work will become desirable to consumers rather then just being another thing they’d prefer to ignore.
