Not having a website is the new website

skittles

There’s been so much chatter lately about Skittles.com and the fact that all it does is point you to existing social media pages – that I didn’t want to blog about it. Some people like it. Others hate it. I personally think it’s pretty cool – and that’s that.

Inspired by the furore around these ‘unsites’, the guys behind Yipit created a service called Unhub in just a couple of days earlier this month. Unhub basically lets you create your own ‘unsite’ toolbar that you can use to direct people to places that you live on the web. All for free.

To show you how it works, here are a couple of Unhubs that I’ve created myself:

If this dings your dong, go along and create your own, right here.

Thanks for checking us out, Dave, we really appreciate it. Will be interesting to see if more companies follow Skittles and create their own “unsites.” We think they will – that’s how we got the idea – but also realized they’re a useful sharing tool for people as well.

Please do let us know if you have any feature requests or ways to improve.

    Thanks Jim,

Now that’s a good use of social media – you’ve responded to my post really quickly with a personal comment!

All the best with UnHub. I think you’ve really got something there.

    Dave

Ooh. I like this. And it’s for free. We can all have our own versions of the Skittles site. Cool.
