I don’t know if I’d be doing this job if it wasn’t for Tony Hart

As a kid growing up in 70s Britain, I absolutely loved watching Take Hart. It always used to inspire me to get busy with my crayons, toilet roll tubes and an unravelled cereal box. It turned me on to arty stuff and the fact that I could have fun doing it. If it wasn’t for this man, I’m not certain I’d have made a career out of advertising.

Thank you Tony Hart. And farewell.

Here’s a clip that just brought it all back to me. It all gets a bit Banksy and Political at about 8mins 30!

And here’s the old theme tune if you want a reminder. It sounds like the start of Giorgio Moroder’s career in electronica to me.

And from before that – some wonderful Vision On.

Wow – straight back to my childhood. I’d forgotten what an influence VisionOn was on my thinking and visual skills.

That creature made from the mirror writing used to terrify me.
