Go FAX yourself

November 20, 2007

Dave Birss is a faxing idiot

Whilst idly looking out of the passenger window on the motorway at the weekend, I noticed a fax number on the side of truck and wondered who used them anymore.  I remember when they were the cutting edge technology that took over from the telex. They are so delightfully lo-fi. And they introduced the delights of pixelation to a mass audience. So I thought that maybe I should do something pointless to encourage people to use them again.

So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I bring you goFAXyourself - a pointless art project where people photocopy a part of their body and fax it to a blog. And I’m inviting you to be a part of it.

Please go and stick yourself in a photocopier and send me the results. You know it makes no sense whatsoever.

How I got started in the industry

November 15, 2007

The AdGrads

Last week those lovely AdGrad boys got in touch and asked if I could write some crap about how I got started in the industry. So I neglected my girlfriend for an evening and sat down to write a small chunk of my biography. Only when I was writing it did I realise what a bloody loser I was - and was amazed at how I’ve managed to forge a half-decent career from such a dismal start.

You can read all about my crappy early days on their blog here.

How to tell if this website sucks

November 2, 2007

I’ve just come across a helpful flowchart that tells you whether a website sucks or not. It made me spit coffee down my chin with a stifled laugh.

Does this website suck?

I think that every web designer should tattoo it to the inside of their eyelids. It’s all yours right here.

Yay! She’s done it!

October 24, 2007

I’ve been badgering my girlfriend into doing a blog for quite a while now. And she’s started this evening while I was out drinking wine with another planner (that’s what she does, you see). She’s got one post up and I’m challenging her to see which one of us can get the biggest following. We’re neck and neck at the moment with two readers - each other - but that’s going to change soon.

Give her some support. Visit plannerama.co.uk and comment on her blog.

Actually, I don’t know why I’m typing this because she’s probably the only person reading it. So, darling, would you like a cup of tea?
